Earlier this summer we launched new club values that are based around the town’s iconic Maiwand Lion, otherwise known as the Forbury Lion, to show that we are ‘The Pride of Reading’.
Here at Reading City Football Club, we understand the importance a football club can have on a community.
Whilst we are very proud to sit at the very heart of the local community here in Reading, we’ve recognised that we could do more and as part our new values we will now strive to be recognised not just as a football club but a force for good within the immediate community and beyond, providing opportunities for participation in a range of sporting, social and cultural activities in the hope that these will lead to health and wellbeing benefits.
We are therefore delighted to be supporting Beat the Street and members of the local community are invited to Be Part of the Pride by joining our team on Beat the Street.
By joining ‘The Pride of Reading’ on Beat the Street you’ll be in with a chance of winning free match tickets amongst other amazing prizes.
What is Beat the Street?
Beat the Street is a free, fun challenge that will see schools, businesses and community groups across West Reading compete to see who can walk, run, or wheel the furthest in six weeks.
Beat the Street will run from September 20th to November 1st 2023.
How does it work?
Sensors called Beat Boxes will be placed on lampposts and street furniture across West Reading.
Players use the map to find the Boxes and tap them using a card to track your journey and earn points for your team. Children will use cards issued through their school.
At the end of the 6 weeks, winning teams will receive vouchers.
