Daniel is a young, talented central midfielder who hails from Tilehurst. He has previously played for Thatcham Town where he progressed through their youth ranks, making his debut at Step 4 at the age of 17.

After putting pen-to-paper we spoke to our new signing and when we asked him why he signed for the Cityzens his answer was “Reading City is a Good club with a good buzz round it”. He also added that another factor in signing for us was that “the Rivermoor is only minutes from my house”.

Reading City Football Club is proud to serve the local community and give local players the oppurtunity to play as ‘Reading’ so we are very excited to have secured the services of a player of Daniel’s calibre, we have no doubt his arrival will help us kick on next season as we look to build on the historic success of last season.

First Team Manager, Simon Johnson had this to say regarding his latest recruit:

“Smithy has spent the last couple of seasons with Thatcham gaining invaluable step 4 experience at his young age. He’s a tough tackling, physical central midfielder and a great character. We are looking forward to having him as part of our squad this season and seeing how he develops.

Welcome Smithy”
