Reading City Football Club proudly supported the #BlowtheWhistle campaign, by participating in the first tournament of the campaign today.
The campaign launched earlier this summer by former England captain, Rio Ferdinand and Zoe Kalar, founder of revolutionary social media platform WeAre8,  aims to raise awareness about the continued prevalence of racial abuse in football and its profound impact on players, fans, communities, and the sport as a whole, from the England team to local grassroots clubs.  The campaign also aims to empower the world to stand together in a safe social home and say no to racism.

The tournament was organised by Elite Sports Events in partnership with Rio Ferdinand and the team at WeAre8 and took place at Bracknell Town FC’s impressive home at Bottom Meadow.

Although the event is about much more  than just football, we are delighted that our Under 13s came away as winners.

The success is testament to the hard work of Under 13s Manager, Jamie Noble who has worked hard this summer to rebuild the side and they now look ahead to playing in the Oxfordshire Youth Football League.

Here at Reading City Football Club we are proud to hold Kick it Out Charter Club Accreditation, and are therefore committed to promoting awareness of the benefits of equality, inclusion and diversity with a clear understanding that football belongs to, and should be enjoyed by, anyone who wants to participate in it.
