Alfie initially played for Reading City during our inaugural season having rebranded as Reading City before making a well-deserved move to North Leigh in November 2018 who compete at a higher level.
Almost a year later Alfie decided to return home and would become the club captain, as despite his young age demonstrated that he was a leader both on and off the pitch.
Alfie departed Reading City for a second time in October 2022 having earnt a move to league rivals Ascot United. This would turn into a dream move for Alfie as in the 2022/23 Season he was part of the Yella’s historic side that not won the Combined Counties Premier Division North and FA Vase.
Alfie has also previously had spells at Thatcham Town, Wantage Town as well as spending time within the ranks at Oxford United.
Alfie is a much-loved character here at Reading City, so we are delighted to have him back and with the experience he’s gained playing at Step 4 we have no doubt he’ll help us push on this season.
“When we asked Alfie why he returned home he told us “I love the club, and I want us to win the play-offs”.
First Team Manager, Simon Johnson had this to say following Alfie returning home:
Bringing Alfie back is a no brainer for the club. He returns to us after a spell at Ascot where he became a top level player at step 5, a league and FA Vase double winner and a consistent step 4 performer.
He adds leadership and character to the group which has already had a great start to the season.
He will also be an excellent player for the younger lads to learn from as we head through this season.
Alfie is someone with a top mentality and I think his signing makes a statement about how far the club has come that he wants to play his football with us heading into his prime years.
Welcome back Alf 💙.”
