Q: Sheldon, a very intense game today, ending with a narrow defeat, what’s your take on it?

A: It was a very close and competitive game that was always going to be defined by small margins, which is reflected in the score line. I am happy with the performance of the players, but we have to start converting these performances into points.

Q: We started the game really positively, and we had a lot of shots on target. Was this part of your game plan and were you pleased with that?

A: The game plan was to be competitive throughout the 90 mins of the game, frustrate Westwood at points but definitely get shots on target when we entered the attacking third of the pitch.

Q: A penalty was given to Westwood after the start of the second half, how would you say this impacted the rest of the game?

A: The penalty came at a period where Westwood started to dominate the game. We gave a lot in the first half of the game and started the second slightly cold. The players remained resilient and had we showed better details in the final third, I felt we would have walked away with something from the game.

Q: We saw a few new players fielded tonight who didn’t feature against Woodcote. How good is it to have different characters in your squad?

A: As much as there were loads of positives to take away from the Woodcote game, I felt it was important to have a lot more experience going into this game, so I tapped into my little black book to ensure we had a good blend. We have played, for me, the number 1 and 2 sides in the league and competed in both games, but it lacked a little bit of maturity in the first one.

Q: And finally, another match in a short period of time – we host Reading YMCA this Saturday down at the Atrium. How do you manage such a quick turnaround between games and how are you feeling ahead of the tie?

A: We have good depth in the squad so will be using that to ensure we are fresh and ready to put out another competitive performance against YMCA. I’m looking forward to the game – as long as we maintain our standards and believe in the principles I want the team to play out, the results will come.
