In the second of four consecutive home games here at the Rivermoor, Saturday saw us welcome Wembley to RG30 in a Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North clash.

City started the game brightly and almost took the lead with quarter of an hour played after Eddie Lazarczuk’s launched a long throw from the left into the penalty area, Joe Pilling then moved forward to shoot but the ball hit the body of a Wembley defender

With twenty three minutes on the clock, Dan Sefton found the opener for our visitors.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for the Cityzens as on the hour mark, Dan Sefton would earn his brace and Wembley’s second of the afternoon after a passing error gave him a clear-cut change to score.

The game was all but over with thirty five minutes on the clock as a dangerous cross on from the left, gave Jaden Newman the opportunity to extend Wembley’s lead to three.

Right on the edge of half-time, Ewan Lynch pulled one back for the Cityzens having recieved a cross from the right-hand side he sent the ball goalwards from inside the box.

It might be an old cliché, but football is a game of two halves and Simon Johnson began the second by ringing the changes as Max Laschok, Josh Baines and Archie Denton were introduced in place of Luke Donville, Jake Impiazzi and Ben Hutchings.

The substitutions appeared to work their magic as in the opening fifteen minutes since the game restarted, we were threatening through our crosses.

Johnson made another change with sixty six minutes played introducing Dan Smith in place of Joel Valentin.

With seventy two minutes on the clock, Wembley’s goalkeeper Avante Joseph left the pitch due to an ankle injury, he was replaced in goal by Wembley’s no.5 Vernace Lupumba.

With seventy four minutes on the clock, Archie Denton reduced the deficit to one goal by converting a corner kick.

Our visitors made their first change with seventy eight minutes played as Jayden Newman was replaced by Rinidie Lokilo-Imponge.

City weren’t done yet and were determined to get something from this game and with ten minutes of normal time remaining, Mckoy Palmer scored a phenomenal long-range goal to make it 3-3.

Following the stoppage earlier for Wembley’s Avante Joseph to recieve treatment, 9 minutes were added.

Wembley introduced two late changes with four minutes of injury time played, as Louis Spearing and Jamie Clarke-Samuel replaced Daniel Sefton and Jonathan Iley.

Simon Johnson’s will now take a brief break from league action as they’ll face Milton United at the Rivermoor this evening to kick off their Berkshire & Buckinghamshire Football Association Senior County Cup campaign.
