On a cold and wet Autumn evening here at the Rivermoor the Cityzens sadly bow out of the Berks & Bucks FA Senior County Cup.

Milton started the game brightly and Jake Moss found their opening goal with five minutes on the clock.

Louis Joyce then found our visitors second goal just after the half hour mark.

As frustrations boiled Pele Hagger found himself in the referee’s book with 40 minutes on the clock.

Ahead of the second half Declan Joyce was introduced in place of Will Shaw, the Welshman making his long awaited debut from the bench having had to wait for his International Clearance.

Unfortunately on the hour mark there was even more woe for Simon Johnson’s side as Pele Hagger recieved a second yellow and was sent off, leaving them with only ten men.

With sixty four minutes played, City did however get a goal to reduce the deficit to one thanks to a great strike from Mckoy Palmer.

Simon Johnson decided to introduce fresh legs with seventy minutes played and introduced Joel Valentin and Andrew Tafeni who earnt his First Team call-up having impressed for our Under 23s replacing Joe Pilling and Josh Baines.

Ten minutes later he would call on his bench again and introduced Ben Hutchinson and Lamin Sankoh in place of Max Laschok and Dan Smith, in the hope we could still get something from the game as the score was still 2-1.

Milton’s second half substitution Adam Smith had other ideas and a quick fire hat-trick with goals in the eighty second, ninetieth and ninety second minute was enough to dump ten man city out of the Berks and Bucks Football Association’s Senior County Cup.

Following the game Simon Johnson said “We took a gamble changing the shape at 1-2 down, whilst down to ten men and not long left and were punished by a clinical side in the last ten minutes”.

Despite the result there were however positives  to take with full debuts for Alfie Grant having returned home, along with Will Shaw, George Smith and Archie Denton.
