Tomorrow sees the end of ‘The Rivermoor Festival of Football’ with our fourth consecutive home game before we end the month on the road.

Despite billing the back-to-back home schedule as a ‘festival of football’, there sadly hasn’t been much to cheer about as the Cityzens haven’t won a game so far this month, in fact they haven’t won a game since August 23rd when we faced Abingdon United in the Isuzu FA Vase.

After Tuesday night’s disappointing County Cup exit, Simon Johnson took to X/Twitter in which he said:

Back to league action Saturday, where no matter what, we need to show more than we have so far”.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Hilltop Football Club, founded in 2005 in Stonebridge, plays in the Combined Counties League Premier Division. The club, named after Hilltop Avenue, initially joined the Middlesex County League, faced relegations, but bounced back with reformed management. Notably, they won the 2018/19 league unbeaten and secured the Middlesex County Junior Cup. After continued success, including back-to-back promotions, Hilltop also launched a reserve team, a women’s team, and youth squads. The club is closely tied to London’s Somali community, with players participating in global Somali tournaments. Their success led to key players and staff being recognised at International level.
HEAD TO HEAD

Hilltop joined the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North in the 2022/23 Season and have played the Cityzens on four occasions.

Hilltop are yet to win a game here at the Rivermoor with their previous two visits resulting a 2-1 and 3-1 defeat at the hands of Johnson’s Cityzens.

Last season also saw Johnson’s side do the double over Hilltop with a 1-5 win on the road, followed up with a 3-1 win at home.

Both sides come into the game having been in action Midweek with Hilltop  on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Bedfont Sports and the Cityzens coming in on the back of a disappointing Berks & Bucks FA Senior County Cup Cup exit in which we lost 1-5 to Milton United.
