Simon Johnson and his Cityzens will return to Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North action this Saturday!

They head to West London to face Bedfont Sports! The last time we face the high-flying Eagles was in our Play Off Semi-Final in which we sadly lost 5-2.

Five months later with a new look City side Simon Johnson will be looking to get a result here in what will be a huge statement.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Bedfont Sports Club was founded in 2002, transforming a derelict site into a thriving football facility. Led by Chairman Dave Reader, the club quickly progressed from local leagues to the Combined Counties League in 2008/09 and eventually Step 4 of the Isthmian League. Significant upgrades, including floodlights and 3G pitches, made their ground one of the best in Middlesex. The club now boasts 25 junior teams, a girls’ section, and multiple senior teams. Following the passing of Dave Reader in 2020, his legacy continues through the club’s community efforts and growth.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

We have only faced Bedfont Sports three times previously, the most recent encounter as we know was that 5-2 defeat in the Play Off-Semi Final back in May.

In those three meetings, Simon Johnson’s side have never secured a win, suffering two defeats and one game ended all square.

City come into Saturday’s game on the back of a fantastic win away from home in the First Round of the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup in which we beat Virginia Water 1-4 on penalties securing our first penalty shootout win in 6 years on Tuesday night and Johnson will be hoping his side can build on this result come three o’clock Saturday.

Bedfont also began their Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup campaign on Tuesday evening and are suffered a 4-2 defeat on the road to Hillingdon Borough, they’ll be looking to return to winning ways against City.

A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS

Following our historic success last season, the majority of our first team squad sadly departed RG30 for pastures new leaving Simon Johnson with a momentous challenge to rebuild the squad over the summer.

One player to depart was Tyler Robinson who was signed by Bedfont Sports, having been a part of our attack scoring a number of goals throughout the season, Johnson will know how much of a threat his former forward poses.
