1-2

After two weeks on the road Simon Johnson’s Cityzens are back in action at the Rivermoor as they play host to Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North newbies Amersham Town.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Amersham Town FC was founded in 1890 and initially played at Barn Meadow before moving to Spratleys Meadow in 1920. The club joined the Hellenic League in 1952, and over the years, significant upgrades were made, including installing floodlights in 1977 and modernizing facilities in the 2000s. The pitch was levelled, and a new clubhouse was built, with the club achieving Charter Standard Club status in 2013. Amersham Town has strong links with Kings Church FC and plays in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Whilst this will be the first ever league meeting between the two clubs. We have met before, back in 2016/17, when we were named Highmoor Ibis we faced Amersham in the FA Vase and won 0-2.

Simon Johnson’s side are well rested having had their league clash on the road to Ardley United postponed on Tuesday evening, whilst Amersham were in action against Burnham in an all-Buckinghamshire clash which Amersham won 2-1 at home.

The newcomers who won the Combined Counties Football League Division One last season are enjoying life at Step 5 having only lost one game out of seven so far this season, they sit comfortably in fifth.

City come into this game having made a huge statement to the league on Saturday with a stunning 4-3 win over Bedfont Sports away from home, that’s back-to-back league wins for Johnson’s side and he’ll be looking to keep the momentum going this Saturday.
