Our young Cityzens, on home ground once again, will clash with ‘The Town’ this weekend for our next Thames Valley Premier League fixture. We enter the tie off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Henley Town, whilst Maidenhead Town arrive to this fixture following a win of the same scoreline, albeit over Burghfield – a team which we have also recently faced.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION – With reference to FCHD.info
Maidenhead Town have been in action since 2004, with three teams who all feature in the Thames Valley Premier League, albeit in different tiers. The first team play in the Premier Division alongside our Under 23’s, whilst their Reserves and ‘A’ team compete in Division One and Division Three respectively.
The 2016/17 season saw Maidenhead Town first join the Thames Valley Premier League, entering from the East Berks League. Joining Division One, the side spent three seasons in this tier, before being named runners-up to the title following twelve wins in twenty. Subsequently, they were granted three points and promoted to the top division in 2019.
Following three Top 8 finishes since promotion, Maidenhead’s First Team will continue to feature in the top division of Step 7 this season.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Towards the start of the season, our first away fixture of the competition took place at Bisham Abbey, away from home, against Maidenhead, which subsequently ended in a 6-0 victory for the hosts.
Our record against ‘The Town’ is somewhat mixed, with our Cityzens coming away with two victories and three defeats in our last five meetings.
