Amongst the local sporting heroes recognised this evening was RG4 FC, who are proud members of our extended family here at Reading City Football Club having accepted our invitation to be our inaugral Community Partner Club earlier this year.

RG4 FC are a community football team based in Caversham, Reading. The club was set up to make football accessible to all children in the area is run by the local community centre, known as the ‘Weller Centre’ which provides a lifeline for some residents, offering free clothes and services such as therapy and advice and during the coronavirus pandemic gave out food parcels.

In just two seasons they have become a lifeline for over 30 children and deservedly took home the Katie Henderson Memorial Trophy for Commitment to Sport at tonight’s Reading Sport Awards.

Ryan Sheehan, Reading City Football Club’s Marketing, Communications and Community Engagement Executive had this to say:

“Everyone at Reading City Football Club is so proud of our extended family at RG4 FC for being crowned winners of the Katie Henderson Memorial Trophy for Commitment to Sport this evening.

The work that they are doing to make football accessible to all children in the Amersham Road area is remarkable and we’re very pleased to be part of their journey”.
