Simon Johnson and his Cityzens have one last battle before they can enjoy the festivities. This Saturday will see them make the trip to Edgware and Kingsbury in Combined Counties Football League Premier League North action.
Johnson’s side will be hoping to go into the festive break on a high note but are under no illusion that Silver Jubilee Park is an easy place to go despite what the league table may suggest. In Tuesday night’s post-match interview, our Assistant Manager Michael Butcher told us “It’s never an easy place to go and play”.
Your support on the road to help roar the Cityzens over the line would be much appreciated.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Edgware & Kingsbury FC, founded in 1939 by employees of William Moss & Sons, has had a rich history in English football. Starting in the West Middlesex Combination, the club quickly found success, winning league titles and cups during the 1940s. They later competed in the London League, Corinthian League, and Athenian League, achieving notable victories like the Middlesex Senior Cup (1948) and Memorial Shield (1954, 1963).
Renamed Edgware in 1972, the club navigated league changes, including stints in the Spartan League and Isthmian League. Despite promotions and titles, challenges arose, such as ground issues leading to their withdrawal in 2008. However, they maintained FA registration and returned in 2014, achieving promotion back to the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League and later joining the Combined Counties League in 2021. In 2022, they were renamed Edgware & Kingsbury FC.
