Simon Johnson headed to North London for our final away day of 2024 and our last game before Christmas eaarlier this afternoon.
Johnson’s side has yet to pick up a win at Silver Jubilee Park with our last three visits ending with one defeat and two ending all square but there was lots to look forward to with two of our youngsters who have been with the club since the age of Under 7s included in today’s matchday line-up, completing their pathway to excellence which we proudly offer every player.
Our hosts Edgware and Kingsbury made an early change to personnel with Deivi Kreka replacing Lee Grant with eleven minutes played.
The game was stalemate until our hosts took the lead just after the half hour mark with Miguel Perez getting the better of Charlie York. Lucas Wynn responded for City in added time at the end of the first half ensuring we went in level at the break.
HALF TIME: Edgware & Kingsbury 1 v Reading City 1
With the Second half underway both teams would be looking to break the deadlock.
As we approached the hour mark Johnson introduced City youngster Harlen Lewis in place of Joe Pilling.
On the hour mark Edgware & Kingsbury’s Oliver Modeste was the first name to enter the referee’s book after he was shown yellow.
Our hosts made two changes shortly after the hour mark with Sisa Azab replacing James Rogers-Oben and Jade McCrea replacing Alex Robb.
With seventy eight minutes played a historic moment for the club would unfold, as Reiss Baker who joined us at the age of Under 7s made his first team debut completing his pathway to excellence, replacing Declan Joyce.
With seventy nine minutes played our hosts replaced earlier goal scorer Miguel Perez with Steven Kabunkiwg.
With eighty seven minutes played, Jamie Barker who usually runs out for our Under 23s replaced earlier City goalscorer Lucas Wynn.
With ninety six minutes played Liam Baker was shown yellow, and was then subsequently substituted being replaced by Dominic Ash, a friend of Gaffer Simon Johnson who was brought in to help cover the absentees within today’s squad.
In the eighth minute of added time, Edgware & Kingsbury’s Levi Young was cautioned.
City youngster Harlen Lewis was cautioned with nine minutes of stoppage time played.

The referee called time on proceedings and Simon Johnson’s quest for a win at Silver Jubilee Park continues.
It’s a point in the right direction for the Cityzens as we head into the festive break. Johnson’s men are back in action on Saturday 28th December when we welcome near-neighbours Wallingford & Crowmarsh to the Rivermoor as we sign off a historic year for the club at home.
