2024 has been a historic year for Simon Johnson and his Cityzens, narrowly missing out on promotion to Step 4 after a defeat in the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North Play-Offs and securing our first trophy since rebranding as Reading City in 2018.

Join us on Saturday 28th December as we sign off a historic year for the club at home when we take on near-neighbours Wallingford & Crowmarsh in Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North action.

It’s only fitting that the last game of a historic year for the club, will be sponsored by our Principal Sponsor, Parkers Estate & Lettings Agency.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Wallingford & Crowmarsh FC was formed in the 2022/23 season through the merger of Wallingford Town AFC, founded in 1922, and Crowmarsh Youth Football Club, established in the 1960s. Wallingford Town has a proud history, including promotions in the Hellenic and Combined Counties Leagues, and a successful return to the Hellenic League in 2016. Crowmarsh Youth built a strong youth football foundation, with many players progressing to professional clubs.

The merged club aims to boost community involvement and provide a full player pathway, fielding 35 teams from youth to adult levels. The club is supported by key sponsors and focuses on developing local talent and promoting football at all levels.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Wallingford and Crowmarsh are no strangers to the Cityzens, having been promoted to the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North at the end of the 2021/22 Season.

We have faced our near-neighbours on five previous occasions with a record of two wins, two games finishing all square and one defeat.

We have already faced Wally this season, having travelled to The Hithercroft on Tuesday 12th November with both teams having to settle for a point.

City come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw on the road to Edgware and Kingsbury, whilst Wallingford & Crowmarsh come into the game on the back of a big derby win against their neighbours and current tenants Milton United in which they won 2-1.
