Q: Mimi, a fantastic three points on the road, could you sum up your thoughts on the game?
It was a tough physical game having not had a proper league fixture since November. It was good for the lads to get back playing and from the start of the match, we were very bright and created attacking chances.
Q: On a personal note, this was your first win as manager, stepping in for Sheldon today. How do you feel about what you and the lads have achieved?
Yes, very happy for the players. As a management team, Sheldon and myself have set some targets for the players and the team are working hard to achieve them. The players kept their standards high.
Q: Three goals, three goal scorers – it must be quite special to have a range of skillsets in the squad?
A: Yeah it’s good to have goals from all over the pitch, we also scored from a set piece which is always a bonus. It’s important as a team that everyone weighs in with goal contributions.
Q: A red card for Slough as well, how would you say it affected the game?
Yes, so from the sending off, we really took control of the game and the match opened up, and if not from good saves from the opposition keeper, it could have been 5 or 6-nil.
Q: Finally, next week, we play out the reverse fixture at the Atrium, how are you feeling ahead of that one?
I’m looking forward to it, it will be our first home fixture of 2025! It’s important that we rest, recover and reflect on the away performance, have a good strong intense training session on Thursday and have our minds focused on the return fixture ahead of next Saturday.
Q: A special mention for Finley Meikle today, who took the armband for Saturday’s match, what’s your take on that?
“Finley Meikle captained the side and he did well to take on the responsibility and lead the team to a solid away win. Finley has come through the pathway at Reading City, and it has been well earned for him to have led the U23s side.
