Reading City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of talented, young right back Bobby Hyland a product of club partner John Madejski Academy’s Football Performance Programme.
Saturday saw us face Risborough Rangers away from home in what was the 273rd consecutive game that a student and/or graduate of the John Madejski Academy’s Football Performance programme has featured for the First Team and what better way to celebrate than welcoming Bobby Hyland, who has previously represented the Cityzens in our 2022/23 FA Youth Cup campaign into the First Team setup.
Bobby comes into the first team set-up having plied his trade at Wokingham Town, Camberley Town and most recently Spelthorne Sports. His arrival makes him the 58th consecutive player to have represented the First Team as a result of our partnership with John Madejski Academy’s Football Performance Programme.
With First Team Manager, Simon Johnson away on his honeymoon we asked First Team Assistant Manager, Michael Butcher for his thoughts on our new signing, a player he knows well as Director of Football at John Madejski Academy’s Football Performance Programme and here’s what he had to say:
“I’m delighted to be working with Bobby again. He’s been training with us for the last couple of weeks and done really well in training last week and deserved the oppurtunity to come into the first team squad for our trip to Risborough”.
