Q: Sheldon, a hard-fought game out there but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be – what’s your take on this afternoon?
From a neutral perspective, it was a very attacking game with both sides creating chances. I felt in the first half, in spells, we showed good control and did the basics well.
Q: One-up at half time thanks to a brilliant strike from Andrew Tafeni, what was the feeling around the squad?
We rode our luck as Finch hit the post and had a couple other opportunities, so going in at half time with a lead was key.
Q: A late equaliser for Finchampstead, with a penalty in added time sealing the three points for the hosts. A difficult ending to a positive afternoon, but what positives could be taken forward?
Unfortunately, in the latter stages of the game, we went away from the principles that brought us joy during the match. A lesson for the players is to know why you were winning and what’s brought you good outcomes throughout the game and ultimately, it cost us today.
In terms of positives, I thought we moved the ball well and created those 1v1’s in wide areas that we have worked on in training all year.
Q: We face Finchampstead for the second time in three days on Wednesday – how do you deal with a quick turnaround and how are you feeling ahead of the meeting?
No two games are the same, and midweek fixtures are always tricky as players are coming from work, college etc. but what it gives us is the opportunity to go after 3 points.
