Q: Sheldon, a seven goal thriller down at the Rivermoor on Saturday sadly ended in a narrow loss – what’s your take on it?

From a spectator’s perspective, it was a thrilling game of football with loads of goals. Personally, I felt that we lacked defensive maturity and were very naive in how we allowed Burghfield back into the game.

Q: Ahead at the break thanks to a quality goal from Luke Donville – how good is it to have a versatile squad and players of his calibre?

With so many games In quick succession, it’s important to have good availability to ensure we are putting out competitive squads. Having someone of Luke’s ability is incredible and speaks to the togetherness of the football club.

Q: A comeback from the visitors in the second half, but the lads stood strong and fought until the end – what positives can be taken from Saturday despite the result not being quite what we wanted?

I can’t ever fault the effort that the players put into the game, but we lacked a level of experience that was needed to guide us to the destination of a win. These are key learning moments that will serve us well as we continue to build upon the foundations laid down this season.

Q: To speak on yesterday’s game against Reading YMCA, it was a brilliant day out for our team, and a sublime way to bounce back after our narrow defeat on Saturday! Can you sum up your thoughts on the match?

Monday was all about the players responding and showing that they up for the fight. We were superb from minute one to the final whistle.

Q: 3-0 up at the break, what was your message of encouragement to the team at the interval?

Half time was about getting the players focused, to ensure we played winning football in the second half by remaining competitive, keeping our game simple and limiting any offence questions the opposition were willing to ask.

Q: Four goals, four goalscorers – is it safe to say the squad are growing stronger each game, and how did each goal impact the team and their momentum?

We were efficient in front of goal today and I’m really happy for all the players, especially Bless [Kimpiats] who, by his own standards, knew he owed me a performance . The team has come a long way from when played Reading YMCA earlier in the season, so to score 4 and probably could have had a few more is testimony to the development of the group.

Q: And finally, next up, we face Tadley Calleva Reserves away on Wednesday – how do you look to prepare for that and how do you preview the fixture?

Midweek games under the lights are always special – there is that non league element to the game. We will prepare and rotate the squad to ensure we give ourselves the best chance to get another positive result.
