This will be the second time that Adam or Cash as he is affectionally known, has served as club captain, having previously had the honour during the 2018/19 season.

Adam is a local lad who re-joined the Cityzens this summer, having previously featured in blue & white between 2018 and 2020.

With 50+ appearances during his first spell with the club, Adam has always worn the badge with pride and represents everything we stand for at Reading City. A club rooted deeply in our community, driven by passion, unity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

His dedication to both the club and the town of Reading having represented several clubs within our local footballing community perfectly aligns with our identity: The Pride of Reading.

As Club Captain, Adam will act as a link between players and Simon Johnson’s management team, support new or younger players with integration and development & foster unity not only across our senior section, but our Academy too. We are One City,One Club and Together, We are Stronger.

We spoke to our newly-appointed Club Captain and here’s what he had to say:

“I’m really proud to be named club captain of Reading City for the upcoming season. Big thanks to the management for trusting me with the role. Looking forward to the new season and pushing for a successful year with everyone involved with the club!”

First Team Manager, Simon Johnson had this to say on Adam’s appointment:

“Making Cash club captain was an easy decision after having him back with us. He’s an experienced head who drives standards both on and off the pitch. He will act as an ambassador for the club and approaches everything he does in the correct manner.”
