2-1

The first real chance of the game came just before the quarter of an hour mark. Following a corner that didn’t trouble the Cityzens, Wokingham Town’s Thomas Jordan had two oppurtunities to put his side in front but each effort was blocked.

A chance for the Cityzens came just after the twenty-minute mark when  Bobbi Emery making his first start for City, narrowly missed the target after some superb chest control.

Wokingham then had a chance to take the lead when Luke Scope fired the ball over the bar.

Just after the half-hour mark Wokingham Town were awarded a free kick after Ty Moorcroft went down, the free kick however didn’t challenge York in goal for city as he comfortably collected Toby Haworth’s Header.

Liam Baker hit the crossbar from about 40 yards, but City’s wait for a goal would continue.

As half-time approached City were enjoying a good spell as they kept searching for an opening goal and our next chance came with forty-two minutes on the clock. After some lovely link-up play which saw Pele Hagger hold the ball up between Wokingham Town’s penalty area and the far byline, before cutting inside and laying it off to Ewan Lynch who was unlucky to see his effort go wide.

Half Time: 0-0

The second half got underway with no changes from either side.

City had the first change of the second when the ball was blasted over the bar in the forty-seventh minute.

With fifty-nine minutes played Bobbi Emery earning his first official start for the Cityzens having been a second half substitute on Saturday broke the deadlock with a close-range finish to open his account for the season.

It was a quick-fire double for the Cityzens as minutes later, Pele Hagger would make it two after a well-worked move was finished at the near post.

Having ran his heart out constantly making mazy, hazy runs round the Wokingham Town defence from the off, goalscorer Bobbi Emery was replaced with Noah Chengun with sixty-two minutes on the clock as Simon Johnson freshened up his attacking options.

Wokingham Town then made a double change as Jamie Goodwin replaced Luke Scope and Joao Jardim replaced Mikey O’Connor.

Both sides continue to make changes with Connor Richardson replacing Jack Webb for our visitors with seventy-one minutes played, followed by City replacing Pele Hagger with Lamin Sankoh, making his debut from the bench having returned to the club this summer.

Simon Johnson continued to ring the changes in the closing minutes of the game with Max Laschok replacing Ewan Lynch,  Daniel Smith replacing Joel Valentin and Archie Denton replacing Will Shaw making his debut off the bench.

It was almost set to be the perfect night with three points and a clean-sheet but Wokingham Town’s Joao Jardim had other ideas and earned his side a consolation goal with a composed finish under the onrushing Charlie York.
