Mckoy is an experienced winger who initially signed for the Cityzens ahead of the 2019/20 Campaign and has made various appearances in recent campaigns to help cover injuries, absences and rested players. Although he’s never really left us we’re delighted to officially welcome him home.
Mckoy Palmer had a terrific debut season in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, despite spending a lot of time in the treatment room he was named our top goalscorer for 2019/20 having scored 10 goals in all competitions.
After such a terrific season there was no doubt that Mckoy had gathered a lot of interest from clubs far and wide and the 2020/21 Campaign saw him on dual-registration with Basingstoke Town.
Mckoy has also had spells at Ascot, Thatcham Town & Woodley United.
Last season also saw him be named top goalscorer at FC BAPCO who won the Premier Division of the Reading & District Sunday League.
When we asked Mckoy why he’s returned he told us that “Simon (Johnson) wouldn’t leave him alone”.
We spoke to a First Team Manager, Simon Johnson about Mckoy returning home and here’s what he had to say:
“Mckoy is a player with absolutely bags of ability. He started his non league career with us back in the 19/20 season and hit the ground running. From here he earned a move to Basingstoke Town where he had a phenomenal goal return at step 4 in a successful period for the club.
He’s someone who is a great character and has always been on hand to help us out over the years when required with fixture backlogs.
Now he is looking to get back into football again properly on a Saturday after tearing up the Sunday scene with Bapco for the last few years. We are absolutely delighted that he’s decided to do that with us here at Reading City again.
He will add brilliant quality to our forward line and we can’t wait to see him in action again.
Welcome back Mckoy 💙”
