ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
North Leigh Football Club, founded in 1908, gained prominence after World War II, winning the Witney and District League Premier Division seven times in the 1950s and excelling in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup. In the 1980s, they secured five consecutive Witney League titles, earning promotion to the Hellenic League. The club enjoyed strong performances, winning the Premier Division title in 2001/02 and retaining it in 2002/03. Despite ground limitations preventing promotion, they had notable FA Vase and FA Cup runs, including reaching the FA Vase last 32 in 2003/04 and a memorable FA Cup run in 2004/05.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This is the first time that our Under 18s have faced their North Leigh counterparts.
We were due to face them in the First Round of the Allied Counties Youth Football League Cup on Tuesday 24th September, but it was postponed due to the wet weather we experienced.
North Leigh beat Wokingham Town in the First Round Qualifying to progress to the Second Round Qualifying whilst we won 4-0 against Thatcham Town to set-up tonight’s tie.
