The 2024/25 Season sees the introduction of the U18 Youth Midweek Cup as part of Berks & Bucks FA County Cups and our Under 18s will kick off their inaugral campaign on the road to near-neighbours Bracknell Town in the First Round tomorrow evening.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Bracknell Town Football Club, founded in 1896 as Old Bracknell Wanderers, went through several name changes and league transitions. They won the Surrey Senior League and cup double in 1969/70 and later joined the Isthmian League in 1984. The club had successes, including promotion in 2017/18, but missed out on further promotion in playoff finals in 2018/19 and 2022/23.
Under new leadership from 2016, they underwent significant redevelopment, including a new 3G pitch and facilities. They moved to a new stadium in 2021 and were promoted to Step 3 in 2021/22. Despite squad challenges, the club remains ambitious, continuing to develop and aim for future success.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This is the first time that our Under 18s have faced their counterparts from Bracknell.
The young Robins compete in the Isthmian Youth Football League and are currently unbeaten having played two games, one in the League and one in the League Cup.
Our youngsters have had a slow start to their inaugural Allied Counties Football League campaign due to our FA Youth Cup progression. As several of squad members feature in our Combined Squad alongside club partner John Madejski Academy.
Our Under 18s began their inaugural Allied Counties Football League campaign with a trip to Binfield in which we narrowly lost 3-2.
