Last night saw the annual Reading Sport Awards take place at the Hilton Reading and have showcased the wealth of sporting talent in the town since first being launched in 1998.
The annual awards shine a spotlight on clubs, schools and colleges that have celebrated a special sporting achievement in the past twelve months along with individuals who deserve recognition for their long service or outstanding achievement.
We are extremely proud of Kaya Slater who after an incredible year that has seen her break records, mentoring younger athletes and representing England. From smashing personal bests to anchoring a winning relay team she was deservedly awarded the Mayor’s Award for being an inspiration on and off the track.
Kaya is an extended member of our family here at Reading City Football Club as her father and coach, Roddy runs Raw Mentoring which proudly operates from the Rivermoor, the hub of Reading’s football community.
Raw mentoring are an enthusiastic team of mentors and trainers who are passionate about supporting students who struggle with mental health challenges, the education system or youth who need additional support. Their comprehensive programme combines fitness and music alongside mentoring and coaching techniques. With their personalised approach, they have the ability to successfully support early intervention with students who are at risk of temporary/permanent exclusion from school as well as rehabilitate the students who have been removed from mainstream education and progress them toward more productive behaviours.
