Simon Johnson’s side are enjoying their home advantage! Picking up a possible nine out of fifteen points whilst enjoying a run of five consecutive home games! Tuesday night saw the Cityzens secure a massive three points and secure back-to-back league wins since September.
Saturday will see us play the fifth and final consecutive home game as we welcome Edgware and Kingsbury to RG30.
Our visitors are currently managerless after Scott Pattmore departed the North London side, can Johnson’s side make it three league wins on the bounce for the first time this season and make it twelve from fifteen points?
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Founded in 1939 by employees of William Moss & Sons, has had a rich history in English football. Starting in the West Middlesex Combination, the club quickly found success, winning league titles and cups during the 1940s. They later competed in the London League, Corinthian League, and Athenian League, achieving notable victories like the Middlesex Senior Cup (1948) and Memorial Shield (1954, 1963).
Renamed Edgware in 1972, the club navigated league changes, including stints in the Spartan League and Isthmian League. Despite promotions and titles, challenges arose, such as ground issues leading to their withdrawal in 2008. However, they maintained FA registration and returned in 2014, achieving promotion back to the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League and later joining the Combined Counties League in 2021. In 2022, they were renamed Edgware & Kingsbury FC.
HEAD TO HEAD
Reading City Football Club are Edgware & Kingsbury Football Club are well acquainted with one another, having both been members of the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North since the 2021/22 Season.
In our last five matches, Johnson’s Cityzens have won one, lost one and drawn three.
The most recent meeting was a 0-0 draw earlier this season at Silver Jubilee Park. Assistant Manager, Michael Butcher told us ahead of the game on 21st December 2024, that “it’s never an easy place to go and play”. Johnson’s side are yet to win at Silver Jubilee Park, home to Edgware & Kingsbury.
Saturday’s visitors have also yet to pick up three points here in West Reading, a record Simon Johnson will be hoping to keep intact.
