ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Burnham Football Club, founded in 1878, is Buckinghamshire’s second oldest club. After early league success, they joined the Hellenic League in 1971, winning the Premier Division and League Cup in 1975/76. The club later competed in the Athenian and Southern Leagues, achieving promotion to the Southern League Premier Division in 2012/13.
In cup competitions, Burnham reached the FA Vase semi-finals in 1982/83 and the FA Cup first round in 2005/06. Recently, they won the 2023/24 Combined Counties League Cup. The club’s 1878 Stadium has been upgraded, including a new 3G pitch in 2021, and aims to foster local talent and community engagement.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Our first competitive meeting between our youngsters and their Buckinghamshire counterparts was earlier this season in the Allied Youth Counties Youth Football League in which we won 2-6.
Coming into this game. Our youngsters are in impressive form as they have gone unbeaten in 7 league games on the bounce.
We come into Wednesday night’s match on the back of a 1-3 win away to Ash United in the First Round of the Group Stage in the Allied Counties Youth Football League Subsidiary Cup on Thursday 13th March, meaning our youngsters have now gone unbeaten in 8 games, in all competitions.
Burnham come into this game on the back of a 3-3 draw in the Allied Counties Youth Football League Central Division at home to Binfield.
With our youngsters having two games in hand over Binfield who currently top the league, we’ll be looking to capitalise on them dropping points by doing the double over Burnham.
