On Friday 28th June Chairman Martin Law along with board members Victoria Pyke and Dave Wyeth attended the local ceremony for The FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards organised by the Berks and Bucks Football Association celebrating those people, clubs and leagues who make a positive difference across our communities which took place at Stadium MK, the home of MK Dons.

Dave was deservedly nominated for the “Grounds Team of the Year Award” having done a sterling job improving the playing surface at The Rivermoor over the course of the season.

Dave was named as a finalist alongside Chris Cording & Mark Hill from Abingdon Youth FC and
Richard, Ian & Mike from Twyford United. Unfortunately we were pipped to the post by Abingdon Youth.

The below statement has been issued on behalf of Reading City Football Club by Ryan Sheehan (Media & Public Relations Manager).

“We are all very proud of Dave and would like to thank him for his sterling job he has done on our playing surface here at The Rivermoor. When we first heard of his nomination we were delighted for him as it meant his hard work was being recognised and rightly so as Dave has worked tirelessly to improve our playing surface and continues to do so.

We would like to congratulate Chris Cording & Mark Hill from Abingdon Youth FC on receiving the award along with everyone who was recognised and thank those who nominated Dave. With continuing improvements being made to the pitch, we may even be nominated again next year.”
