Oliver is no stranger to RG30 having been a product of our Youth Academy up until the age of Under 16s, so we’re delighted to have him back.

After leaving the Cityzens, Oliver joined the Youth Ranks at Thatcham Town and made his debut in men’s football in Thatcham’s 3-2 win over Bracknell in the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Cup on Saturday 30th November 2021. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed as at Thatcham Town’s end of 2021/22 Season Awards, he won the following: Youth Team Players Player of Year, Supporters Player of the Year and the Breakthrough Award.

Oliver then signed for Thatcham Town’s First Team ahead of the 2022/23 Season and has continued to make appearances for the Kingfisher’s whilst also playing for their Under 18s.

Oliver recently scored against the Cityzens, in our 2-1 win against Thatcham Town during pre-season.

Oliver in action for the Kingfisher’s

Oliver is a fantastic young talent and we look forward to seeing him progress not only with us but with Thatcham Town who compete in the Isthmian League South Central Division, which is a step up from us.

We’d like to thank Thatcham Town for their cooperation with this dual signing, this move will be of benefit to both clubs and to Oliver himself as he continues to develop.

Here at Reading City Football Club, we are very proud of our record of developing players to reach their full potential.

Everyone at Reading City Football Club wishes Thatcham Town the very best of luck for the upcoming season.

We spoke to First Team Manager, Simon Johnson following Oliver putting pen-to-paper and here’s what he had to say about his latest signing:

“I’ve been a fan of Oliver since he was in our youth teams, and I used to coach him. He’s always had a fantastic attitude and now with 30+ games at step 4 under his belt, I’m delighted to have him with us and continue his development. He’s going to be an excellent centre-back.”
