The Cityzens will welcome league leaders Egham Town to RG30 tomorrow as we return to the Rivermoor for our first home game since the beginning of October.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Egham Town FC traces its origins to Runnymede Rovers, founded in 1877, who wore red and white—colours the current team maintains. Egham FC was officially established in 1905, initially succeeding in the Surrey Senior League but faced challenges, including a stint in the Spartan League and disbandment during WWII. The club reformed in 1963 and settled at Runnymede Stadium, steadily progressing through various leagues. Notable achievements include league titles, record goal tallies, and FA Cup and FA Vase runs.
In recent years, Egham has seen managerial changes, fluctuating performances, and playoff pursuits, finishing as high as third in 2015-16 but facing setbacks in subsequent seasons. Despite challenges, Egham Town has maintained a loyal fanbase and a strong community presence, looking forward to further league competition and growth.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Egham Town have been a regular opponent, since we joined the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North in the 2021/22 Season.
In our last five meetings City have secured three wins, suffered one defeat and one game has ended all square. Last season saw us do the double over Egham with a 5-0 win away from home and a 2-1 win here at the Rivermoor.
Egham come in to tomorrow’s game on the back of a 1-1 draw on the road to Risborough Rangers last Tuesday and with no game for over a week will be well-rested. Simon Johnson’s are also well rested having not played since last Saturday in their 1-4 win on the road to Virginia Water.
