Q: Sheldon, a game of two halves, can you sum up your thoughts on the match?

Indeed, it was exactly that. For the first 40 minutes of the game, we controlled it and created a host of chances that should have seen us two goals ahead.

The turning point was the penalty awarded to Henley just before half time, which swung the momentum of the game going into the second half. Ultimately, we didn’t navigate ourselves defensively in the second half and we got punished.

Q: On the stroke of half time, as you mentioned, Henley were awarded a penalty, which was almost saved but was unfortunately slotted home. We seemed stronger in the first half, and perhaps we could have been a bit more clinical. Would you say this is an experience that your team can learn a lot from?

Scoring goals at any level of football is a skill and currently we are doing everything up to putting the ball in the back of the net in open play. The penny will drop and once it does, the gates will open up for the attackers.

Q: Despite the scoreline, would you say there a lot of positives to be taken from the game, or any standout moments?

Definitely loads of positives to take away from the game, which gives us good building blocks. But, ultimately, football is also a results business and our positives needs to start returning points.

Q: Next week, we’re back at the Atrium for a second matchweek in a row. How are you feeling ahead of that, and what changes are you going to implement in this week’s training to hopefully ensure our scoreline will reflect the performance better this week?

Another opportunity for us to put together a complete body of work. Maidenhead are going to pose a different type of test, and we will prepare accordingly in training this week.
