With just three games left until the curtain closes on the 2024/25 Season for Simon Johnson and his Cityzens. Saturday sees them head to West London for their final away day of the campaign in which they’ll take on play-off chasing Harefield United.
Every club up and down the land will have a tradition for their last away game, whether it be bowler hats, fancy dress or inflatables. Inflatables’ at football has been around since the 1980s after Manchester City fan Frank Newton first introduced an inflatable banana to the terraces at Maine Road. So we’d love to see what inflatables you can muster up for our final trip on the road this Saturday as the inflatable craze continues to be adopted by fans across the country.
Let’s make it a road trip to remember both on and off the pitch, with your support you can roar Johnson’s side on to victory.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Founded in 1868, Harefield United FC is the oldest football club in Middlesex. Originally known as Harefield Victoria and later Breakspear Institute FC, the club merged in 1934 to form its current identity.
The club competed in various leagues, including the Great Western Combination, Athenian League, and Isthmian League, winning multiple titles but facing financial struggles that led to a move to the Spartan League in 1996.
Harefield United saw success in the early 2000s, winning several trophies and earning promotion. In 2018-19, under Jason Shaw, they achieved an unbeaten league season, securing promotion with five games to spare.
HEAD TO HEAD
Harefield United joined the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North at the beginning of the 2022–2023 season, having left the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division at the end of the 2021–2022 season. Simon Johnson’s side are therefore no strangers to tomorrow night’s opposition.
In our last five meetings, City have won three and lost two. Our most recent defeat was earlier this season when we hosted Harefield United and narrowly lost 2-3, Simon Johnson will be hoping to prevent the West London outfit doing the double over his side come Saturday afternoon.
City come into this game on the back of a 0-1 win against Milton United at home last night, whilst Harefield United come into this game on the back of a 0-4 win on the road to British Airways in the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup Semi-Final having also been in action last night.
