Simon Johnson’s Cityzens will welcome West London outfit Bedfont Sports to RG30 on Tuesday evening as we play the first of two home games ending our season here at home.
Our opposition aptly nicknamed the Eagles are currently flying-high as they look to finish in the play-off places for a second consecutive season. The Eagles narrowly lost out on promotion last season having beaten us in the Play Off Semi-Final only to beaten by Rayners Lane in the final.
Join us as our First Team play under the lights for the final time.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Bedfont Sports Club was founded in 2002, transforming a derelict site into a thriving football facility. Led by Chairman Dave Reader, the club quickly progressed from local leagues to the Combined Counties League in 2008/09 and eventually Step 4 of the Isthmian League. Significant upgrades, including floodlights and 3G pitches, made their ground one of the best in Middlesex. The club now boasts 25 junior teams, a girls’ section, and multiple senior teams. Following the passing of Dave Reader in 2020, his legacy continues through the club’s community efforts and growth.
HEAD TO HEAD
We have only faced Bedfont Sports four times previously, including that fateful day where we were defeated in last year’s Play Off Semi-Final ending our promotion hopes. A day that will live long in the memory for the Cityzens faithful.
Coming in the 2024/25 Simon Johnson’s side had neve secured a win, suffering two defeats and one game ended all square.
Earlier this season however the Cityzens were part of a 7-goal thriller in West London i they secured their first ever win over the Eagles with a 3-4 scoreline.
City come into Tuesday night’s game on the back of Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against promotion-chasing Harefield United in our final away game of the season.
Bedfont however are in sensational form and now enjoy an unbeaten run of six consecutive games following a 1-2 on the road to Broadfields on Saturday.
